Swiss, born 1961. Lives and works in Geneva. Fleury is best known for further blurring the lines between fashion, shopping and art. As fashion has historically borrowed from art to brand itself and enhance sales Fleury has successfully colonized fashion to interrogate the priviledged status enjoyed by art objects among shopper/collectors. Building on the work of Andy Warhol and other pop and appropriation artists, Fleury's objects confuse corporate brand names with precious art suggesting that Jackson Pollock is perhaps as much a brand as Louis Vuitton.
